Drunk Driving History

Egypt (c. 2560 BC)

The Last Supper (c. 33 AD)

Historians claim that slaves building the Great Pyramid at Giza drank about 1 ½ gallons of beer a day! Histories greatest empires were fueled by Beers, Wines and Ales. Alcohol contributed to the rise of civilizations such as Mesopotamia, the Indus River Valley and China. Alcohol was very commonplace among people, and there were no Drunk Driving accidents recorded by any of those civilizations. We shouldn't deny our roots!

The Last Supper (c. 33 AD)

The Last Supper (c. 33 AD)

"After supper he took another cup of wine and said, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you." - Luke 22:20

The Blood of Christ was Alcohol for a reason! Most ancient and current faiths place Alcohol in high regard, either as tribute or to be consumed by followers of the faith. This tradition should not be infringed.

Exploration (100 -1800 AD)

As long as humans have gotten on ships to explore, alcohol has come with them. Ale and Beer were more commonplace then water since, surprise, Alcohol was and still is a healthier alternative! Alcohol and sailing went hand in hand, yet you never hear about drunk boating accidents! It's almost like there was never an issue to begin with! As long as mankind was behind the wheel, alcohol was there for them to help meander all across the globe!

Alcohol in America (c. 1775 AD)

“The benefits of moderate use of liquor have been experienced in all armies and are not to be disputed” - George Washington

The father of our country said it best, and what's good for our troops is good for us too. Do you honestly think you could've maneuvered across the cold Delaware River not Liquored up? Throw your tea in the harbor! Alcohol is the only beverage America needs!

Whiskey Rebellion (c. 1791-1794 AD)

After the United States won the war of independence the federal government held substantial debt. To remedy this, the federal government targeted the only productive people in America (Alcoholics) with an excise tax on Whiskey. This was the first tax the US government ever levied on a domestic product. A revolt, known as the Whiskey Rebellion started immediately in Pennsylvania. After several years of struggle, the state militias ended the rebellion.

American Alcohol (c. 1820- AD)

In the 1820s, Americans drank seven gallons of Alcohol per person annually! Due to expansion in the Midwest, America began to inherit a strong Alcoholic culture. Corn harvesting provided an abundance of Whisky. With the commonality of waterborne disease, Alcohol was still regularly consumed instead of water. No Drunk Driving Accidents from this time period either!

The First DUI (c. 1897 AD)

The First DUI (c. 1897 AD)

On September 10, 1897, a 25-year-old London Taxi Driver named George Smith became the first person ever arrested for Drunk Driving after slamming his cab into a building. Smith was forced to plead guilty in court, and was only fined. This was the beginning of the end for Drunk Drivers overseas, and this set the precedent for the tyrannical laws that control Americans now. Now, European nations have some of the strictest Drunk Driving laws anywhere on the Earth!

Prohibition (c. 1920 AD)

The First DUI (c. 1897 AD)

Prohibition, the darkest time in American history, was propagated by w*men and Christian fundamentalists and eventually led to the 18th Amendment. This was the end goal of the assault on the basic rights of Americans to consume Alcohol wherever and whenever. Funnily enough, the Prohibition Era saw an INCREASE in crime and violence. So much for banning that evil and immoral Alcohol.

Thankfully this law was repealed, but many newer and crueler DUI/DWI laws have since been passed.

Ignition Interlock (c. 1980 AD)

Ignition Interlock (c. 1980 AD)

The effort to force Ignition Interlock Devices (IIDs) on all people has been an ongoing struggle. These devices force the driver to prove they aren't Drunk prior to being able to utilize their vehicle. Property rights issues aside, statistics show sober drivers EXCEED Drunk Drivers in caused accidents annually! If anything it should be MANDATORY to be Drunk to Drive! That said, these devices regularly fail to provide consistent Measure of BAC. They even detect MOUTHWASH! How can such crude and unproven technology be mandated?

Social Movements (c. 1980 AD)

Founding of the Drunk Drivers Association of America (c. 2020 AD)

Ignition Interlock (c. 1980 AD)

In 1980, an organization know as "Mothers Against Drunk Driving" (MADD) was formed. Their disposition on our rights is obvious.

All you need to know about them is their original founder left in 1985 stating "..[MADD] has become far more Neo-prohibitionist than I had ever Wanted or Envisioned".

In other words, their organization is run by power hungry soccer moms who hate freedom. Their efforts have led to many attacks on the rights of Alcoholic Americans and Drunk Drivers.

National Minimum Drinking Age Act (c. 1984 AD)

Founding of the Drunk Drivers Association of America (c. 2020 AD)

Founding of the Drunk Drivers Association of America (c. 2020 AD)

In 1984 the US passed the National Minimum Drinking Age Act (23 U.S.C. § 158) into Law. Sound good? WRONG! This bill had secret incentives in it to encourage the States to start cracking down on Drunk Driving! This bill and it's implications have been a disaster for our civil liberties as Drunk Drivers! Never trust any politician to uphold your rights. We're leading efforts to raise awareness and bring about the repeal of this intolerable act!

Founding of the Drunk Drivers Association of America (c. 2020 AD)

This leads us to 2020's, where we see our basic rights being further eroded by bureaucrats and law enforcement agencies who could care less about us. The DDAA was founded by those of us who reject the war on drunk driving, and we are going to fight for our rights! Our mission is to abolish all laws regulating and restricting Drunk driving and and to provide for the Alcoholic Freedom for all Americans!
